Physiotherapy lead Pilates

Designed specifically as a tool for physiotherapists, physiotherapy lead pilates is a development of the concept originated by Joseph Pilates in assisting rehabilitation of an injury. Based around the neuromuscular stabilisation and control of the core and trunk its aims are to treat movement dysfunction and generate muscular control through effective recruitment and training. This can be done either through mat based techniques or using specialised equipment.

Contrary to common belief pilates is not a female only form of exercise. More and more men are adopting the physiotherapy lead pilates principles for everyday health and wellbeing but also in developing sporting performance and avoiding injury. These include professional rugby union and league sides, domestic and international, premier league football professionals and many golfers on the PGA circuit.
